If you plan to use federal student loans in payment of your educational expenses, you must complete the following steps:
1. Get Your FAFSA PIN
If you have never completed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), we recommend that you request a Personal Identification Number (PIN).
The PIN serves as an electronic signature on the FAFSA/Renewal FAFSA, as well as allowing access to other federal student loan data systems. It should be kept in a safe place for use in future years.
If you are a Summer 2013 term applicant or renewing student, use the 2012/2013 FAFSA (with your submitted 2011 tax documents).
If you are a Fall 2013, Spring 2014, or Summer 2014 term applicant or renewing student, use the 2013/2014 FAFSA (with your submitted 2012 tax documents).
3. Complete the Loan Request Form
Download the Federal Direct Student Loan Request and Acceptance of Awards form matching the FAFSA you submitted:
Complete the required fields, then print, sign, and
fax to 805.690.4339, or e-mail a signed, scanned copy to
finaid@fielding.edu.
4. Complete Federal Student Loan Entrance Counseling Entrance counseling is required once for new loan applicants at
Fielding Graduate University. Be sure to indicate that you are a Graduate Student. Automatic notification of your successful completion will be sent to Fielding directly.
6. Check your E-mail – Additional Information may be Required
Check your e-mail regularly for messages from the Financial Aid Office. You may be selected for Verification, or your FAFSA may indicate the need for additional documentation. You will receive an e-mail indicating any additional forms or information that may be needed. Please respond promptly in order to expedite your loan processing.
Receipt of all information must be received by the Financial Aid Office according to your program admission calendar or your renewal deadline to ensure timely processing. Late receipt or incomplete materials cannot guarantee processing will be complete prior to your tuition due date.
