The Office of Student Life and Thriving offers experiences for students and the Fielding community at Global Session in Washington, D.C., from July 7 to July 11.
Students and other members of the Fielding community may attend the events below, unless otherwise mentioned (all times are Eastern).
Advising
July 7-July 9
Graduate program advisors will be available for in person 30-minute academic advising meetings by appointment. Advising appointments are an excellent opportunity to review your progress toward degree completion and plan for future term registration. Students registered for session will be sent more information and links to schedule appointments in advance of the session.
Wellbeing Space
July 7-July 11

Throughout the week, please enjoy a quiet space for reflection, meditation, prayer, journaling, yoga practice, and peace. When you need to slow down or need a consistent place to process the day, please find rest in the well-being space. Please also join us in this room from July 8 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. for our Sound Bath experience.
Writing Room

Please enjoy this designated community space to work on writing and get things done! Join us on July 10 in this room for the writing retreat with coaches available to help answer your questions.
ACI Benefits
July 8-July 10
12-2 p.m.
Representatives from ACI benefits will be on site to discuss our Student Assistance Program. Learn how these services can help with reducing stress, improving mental health, and how they can connect you to resources, information, and referrals. Representatives will be available on July 8, 9, and 10 from 12–2 p.m.
Sound Bath Experience
Monday, July 8
6:30-7:30 p.m.
Join us for an immersive journey with Healing Practitioner Dante Baker as he provides therapeutic frequencies for stress relief, relaxation, and good energy. In this meditative journey, Baker uses singing bowls and healing polyphonic overtones from his voice to create waves of soothing vibrations to cleanse the mind, body, and spirit.
Student Organization Recruitment Fair
Tuesday, July 9
5-7 p.m.
The Recruitment Fair, part of the President’s Community Welcome Reception, provides a unique opportunity to engage with and learn about Fielding’s Student Organizations. If you are interested in building community and connecting with others, please join us to learn more. Participating Organizations are: Fielding Connect, Paradigm Shifters, Queer Straight Alliance, and Clinical Psychology Student Government.
Climate Listening Sessions (Students Only)

Students can participate in Climate listening sessions during Global Session on July 9 at 12 p.m. or 4 p.m. and July 10 at 12 p.m. We have partnered with external consultants Jernigan & Associates, Inc., to assist with facilitating the listening sessions. The sessions are designed to create a psychologically safe and confidential space for students to express themselves and share areas of strength and improvement related to student experiences. Interested students should R.S.V.P. for ONE time here.
Culture, Arts, and Social Change (excursion)

During this all-day excursion, focused on culture, arts, and social change, we will visit three art and social justice locations that deliberately challenge injustices, biases, and inequities based on race, gendered identity, age, and other deeply embedded biases. Writing Retreat
Wednesday, July 10
Join us for a day of writing in community during our writing retreat. This is an opportunity to connect with our writing coaches and get additional support while working on your writing projects and dissertations. Sign up for an in-person meeting with the School of Psychology’s writing coach Kari Lannon or a virtual meeting with the School of Leadership Studies’ writing coach Janet Toliver. Appointments can range from 15 minutes to 30 minutes and can cover anything from questions on APA, organization, argumentation, academic writing, or revising. To reserve your spot and time, please email WritingCoaches@fielding.edu and specify your program. An invitation (and a Zoom link for virtual consultations) will be sent to your email address as confirmation.
