Sarah Baite Kitonsa, Ph.D.
Recent Fielding School of Leadership Studies graduate Sarah Baite Kitonsa presented at the 2025 International Association of Autoethnography and Narrative symposium.
Her presentation title was “Autoethnography is not Just a Research Methodology. It’s a way of Life.”
“It was an honor to share the space with elders and pioneers in the field of autoethnographic research, as well as seasoned researchers whose life experiences are not merely fleeting moments but sources of learning for creating a better world. I shared findings from my doctoral research on how college-educated immigrant women from East Africa navigate their careers in the US and how the findings of the research helped me understand and come to terms with my experiences as a highly educated immigrant woman from Uganda.” — Sarah Baite Kitonsa, Ph.D.
Sarah’s learnings: Autoethnographic research is not about self-engrossment. It is an invitation to join a conversation, a movement for inspiring discourse for social, cultural, and political change. It’s a way of life.
