Fielding clinical psychology alum and the founding president of the Black Student Association Tahlia Bragg, Ph.D. (2023), received the Foremothers Mentorship Award, presented by American Psychological Association’s Div. 35, Section I (The Psychology of Black Women).
Div. 35, Section I is a prestigious group within APA. Among other goals, the section aims to promote the development of methods of research and models of treatment and intervention that are ethnically, culturally, and gender appropriate for Black women.
The Foremothers Mentorship Award celebrates Black women’s commitment to supporting the growth and development of students, peers, and/or colleagues in their professional careers. It also “recognizes professionals who demonstrate significant contributions to the area of mentorship, particularly as it relates to encouraging the perpetuity of Black women in psychology,” states the award’s nomination form.
We are thrilled that Dr. Bragg is recognized for her work and leadership in advancing Black women in psychology and serving as a mentor to many aspiring clinical psychologists. Last year, Dr. Bragg and her colleagues from the Black Student Association received the American Psychological Association’s 2022 Stuart C. Tentoni Outstanding Professional Development Program Award.
Dr. Tahlia Bragg is a graduate of the Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology program. She is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow in Clinical Neuropsychology at the Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) Center at Boston University Chobanian & Avedesian School of Medicine. Dr. Bragg is a Research Affiliate at the Boston University Center for Antiracist Research.
