Fielding’s Black Student Association invites all visual artists and creators from the Fielding community (students, alums, staff, faculty) to create and donate pieces of their artwork to a fundraising event to support the programs of the BSA, including the Diversity Speaker Series and the January’s annual MLK celebration.
“The Juneteenth Art Showcase: Vision of Blackness” will be hosted in June 2024 in conjunction with BSA’s Juneteenth programming and the commemoration of Fielding’s 50th Anniversary. BSA is currently accepting intentions to participate. You may access the form here. Intentions to participate are now due on February 28, 2024.
BSA requests that each artist create something inspiring, unique, and clearly recognizable as related to the theme of anti-Black racism; “Black Lives Matter,” “Black is Beautiful,” and “Black and Proud” are examples of possible related themes. The BSA executive board will vet these pieces for their alignment with the theme and then display them virtually to the community. A panel of judges will also select several pieces for awards. At the showcase event in June, these pieces will be awarded to the highest bidders, and the award results will be announced. The artists will receive 25% of their proceeds, and the remainder will be donated to BSA.
BSA asks that if you intend to participate, you let a BSA board member know by February 28, 2024, and that you plan to submit your completed work by April 15, 2024. The showcase will occur as part of BSA’s Juneteenth programming. More information will be made available in early 2024.
If you would like more information, you can contact any member of the BSA board at bsa@fielding.edu.
