Five questions for Clinical Psychology student, Erinn Cameron. Ms. Cameron is pursuing her PhD in Clinical Psychology at Fielding Graduate University’s School of Psychology.

What brought you to Fielding?

I was drawn to Fielding because of its commitment to providing educational opportunities for diverse and non-traditional populations of students. I would not have been able to pursue a doctoral education if it was not for Fielding.  

How did you grow/change at Fielding?

Since coming to Fielding, I have gained personal skills in the areas of self-reflection, critical thinking, self-confidence, self-empowerment, and scholarly collaboration. My mentor and dissertation chair, Dr. Kristine Jacquin, was the first person to ever truly believe in me and she has empowered me on this doctoral journey.

What did you learn here that you might not have learned elsewhere?

Fielding has woven cultural competency into every class and area of training, which is unlike any previous academic experience I have had. Fielding has provided me with a foundation for cultural competency that will serve me in all areas of personal and professional pursuit.

What would you say is your greatest passion? (Alternately: What drives you?)

My greatest passion is healing others and improving the quality of life of hurting and vulnerable people across the globe. I am passionate about human rights, gender equality, and the rights of women and girls across all cultures.

What do you hope to do with your degree?

With my doctoral degree, I plan to practice in the area of rehabilitation psychology for traumatized women and other vulnerable populations, as well as work for the United Nations and continue my research in the area of human trafficking and gender inequality. I hope to use my research to influence global policy in these areas.
