The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and the Office of Student Life and Thriving at Fielding Graduate University invite you to participate in two exciting workshops hosted by Dr. Alden Jones, Ph.D., on Friday, October 18, 2024. These sessions will explore key topics in gender studies and digital community-building.
About the October 18 Workshops
Faculty-Only Session: “Gender Basics for the Future”
9 a.m. PT / 12 p.m. ET
In this session, participants will learn the most important concepts around gender. Not only will this session bring participants through history and up to date, participants will learn to consider the future of gender in their community and personal spaces. This is a discussion-based session, with plenty of time for talking through participant questions.
University-Wide Session: “LOL – Living On-Line”
1:30 p.m. PT / 4:30 p.m. ET
In this workshop-style session, participants will receive content on building digital community, time and space online, and feelings and expression in digital environments. The outcomes for this session are focused on participants noticing the ways digital environments are as robust as analog environments. Participants will also learn about sex/uality and gender in these post-analog spaces through examples from research. This is a more interactive workshop-style space that assumes attendees’ active participation.
