Searching for External Funding

Start Simple and Local

The hunt for education funding can seem intimidating, especially as an adult with many demands on your time.  Use your browser search to look for scholarships:

  • Where you live – look for foundations in your city, county, or region that offer funding to local residents
  • Where you work – check your professional organizations, your employer, and your family member’s employers for scholarship opportunities
  • Where you serve – see if the community organizations, religious institutions, and other non-profits where you volunteer have funding for education

Try a Search Engine

You can expand your search to include other demographic information, like race or ethnicity, veteran/military status, or other keywords.  Use search engines to match scholarships to your demographic information.

Remember – Watch out for financial aid scams.  You should never be asked to pay for scholarship applications.
