April Berry,
Biography
Dr. April T. Berry is a Licensed Psychology and Associate Faculty at Fielding University. She is also the Owner and Director of Pathway 2 Purpose Wellness & Consulting, LLC. She received her Ph.D. from the University of South Alabama's Combined-Integrated Clinical and Counseling Psychology program. Her background includes clinical leadership, college counseling, community mental health, and military health and wellness. With 10 years of experience in the mental health field, Dr. Berry is very passionate about alleviating barriers to mental health care, restoring meaning and purpose in the lives of those who need it most, and supporting social justice efforts in the psychology field. Additionally, she enjoys empowering and elevating students in and outside of the classroom by extending compassion and empathy, while helping them have fun learning and growing in their personal and professional development.
Dr. Berry has made several contributions and accomplished numerous achievements in the psychology field. She has engaged in over 45 outreach initiatives on college campuses and within the broader community tailored to increasing and understanding diversity, equity, and inclusion and bringing awareness to mental health. She has presented presentations and symposiums at various conferences, including the American Psychological Association (APA). Additionally, Dr. Berry has received many awards and accolades over the years for her outstanding work and dedication to social justice and liberation in the psychology field, published 19 peer-reviewed journal articles in her research area, and provided service at the state and national levels to advancing the psychology field.
In her spare time Dr. Berry enjoys shopping, spending time with family and friends, traveling, and relaxing. She truly embodies her life motto, Climb and Maintain, where she reminds herself and those she interacts with to strive for excellence in everything they do (i.e., climbing), but being reminded to stay grounded in those things they hold dear to their heart (i.e., maintaining).
Dr. Berry is a Breast Cancer Survivor and works full-time in integrated care ensuring individuals take care of both their physical and mental health. She encourages individuals to pay attention to their bodies and be aware of when "their body is speaking to them."
