Postdoctoral Certificate in Respecialization in Clinical Psychology
The postdoctoral certificate program is designed for doctoral level psychologists who, as part of their professional development, want to become licensed clinical psychologists. The program’s academic and clinical coursework and supervised clinical training prepares you for licensure. Entering students must hold a PhD in Non-Clinical area of Psychology such as social, developmental, or organizational psychology.
Components of the Program
New Student Orientation (NSO)
The NSO consists of a month long online introduction to Fielding and the program followed by a week-long residential orientation.
Curriculum
Respecialization students take the academic and clinical courses needed to practice clinical psychology and meet state licensing requirements. Course work is completed through a combination of online, virtual, and/or in-person activities.
Clinical Training
Clinical practicum is the place to apply what you are learning in courses and develop assessment and psychotherapy skills. Here is a listing of current clinical practicum placements. Our Director of Practicum Training assists students in locating placements not on the current list. The goal of practicum training is to prepare for the year-long internship.
This integrated sequence of closely supervised clinical and educational experiences prepares you to perform responsibly as an entry level clinical psychologist. All students are expected to complete an accredited internship and must apply through the APPIC Match. Unlike practicum, which usually can be found in your local community, students may need to temporarily relocate to complete an accredited internship.
The RCP program takes place in the context of the Clinical Psychology doctoral program which is accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA Commission on Accreditation, 750 First St. NE, Washington, DC 20002, 202.336.5979).
